Thursday Adventures! An Urban Exploration Story

I like a great adventure out into the unknown. Once in a great while, I’ll find myself exploring abandoned structures and buildings, that was once inhabited with people in the ever-changing world. There’s very few times that I’ve can say that I have physically went inside these structures. The main reason why one cannot get inside is it’s locked/boarded up, heavily guarded by police, or the structures are collapsing or have too many risk factors.
I either circle the building and look in the window or try to get the best view of the locations.

However, I don’t trespass or take anything from the properties. I highly discourage breaking in or stealing or vandalizing anything. It’s extremely dangerous for one. If you do explore please use caution because there’s plenty of physical risks such as the structure collapsing or mold, even broken glass. The second reason is, you never know who is lingering inside or what their intentions are.

Disclaimer: Please note, if you do explore these places, use caution and explore at your own risk. Please obey the laws and use good judgment. I’m in no way, shape, or form responsible for your actions. If in doubt, don’t proceed. It’s best to leave it to the pros.

Now, that we’ve gotten that out of the way....

Within the past two weeks, I’ve went out exploring. I particularly went down to Branson, which is just about 15 minuets away from where I live. Mainly, spent the day with a few friends and treated my mom to dinner as a Mother’s Day surprise. Afterward, traveled from the Branson Landing shopping center I found the closed Kmart and Staples. We all know that Kmart isn’t doing well, the one in Branson closed this past year with the ones in Springfield.

I decided to go get a closer look.

Up on the hill was the old Staples building. The weeds and shrubbery were overgrown, and the building was littered with graffiti and trash. All of the windows were completely boarded up.

(Update as of 6/2/2018) - The old Staples is being turned into some sort of new business. Too early to tell what it is yet though.

The Kmart building had the modern look to it, along with the modern logo. The front of thee building had a signage scar and the glass to the windows was completely filthy and cached up with dirt.
If you look right inside the door, part of the sign from the front of the building was sitting there. The place was completely empty and the only thing on was the exit signs. This particular location shared the building space with a Country Mart grocery store and had a McDonald's at the edge of the lot.

The garden center outside gate, was somewhat mangled. It looked as if someone tried to pry it open, but didn't have much luck.

To the left of the entrance, was where the Little Caesar's or Kmart cafe was. You can still see the counters and the metal security gate.

The back of the building was covered in graffiti, but the inside was completely untouched.

Music Pick Monday!

This weeks music pick is from a band, Hotwire. Their song "Tweaked" was featured in an early 2000's Ozzfest advertisement for Hot Topic. This rocks the 2000's hard rock, hardcore feel that most bands of the had such as Eighteen Visions, Terror, Hopesfall, and Throwdown.
